US Open, official decision on Novak Djokovic

The Serbian tennis player will not take part in the last Grand Slam of 2022 due to the lack of vaccination against Covid-19.

Novak Djokovic will not be able to take part in the last Grand Slam of 2022,  from 29th of August to 11th of September 2022. The Wimbledon champion is forced to forfeit as he is unable to travel to the United States due to his lack of vaccination against Covid-19.

Novak Djokovic’s stated at his social media:  ‘Unfortunately, this time I will not be able to travel to New York for the US Open. Thank you for your messages of love and support. Good luck to my fellow players! I will stay in good shape and positive spirit and wait for an opportunity to compete again. See you soon tennis world!”.

This is going to be a nasty setback for the 21-time Grand Slam winner, who already missed the Australian Open for the same reason. In addition, the US Open is also likely to lose the 3rd ATP ranked player, Rafael Nadal. His pregnant partner is undergoing an operation due to a complication. Roger Federer will also be absent due to an injury. Therefore, for different reasons the big three might not play the last Grand Slam of the year.
