Man City (1.25) host West Ham (11.00, draw 6.00) in the early kick-off this weekend and they’ll be keen to show that they’re not a spent force after surrendering the title so easily.
Roberto Mancini is likely to start rotating his team now in readiness for the FA Cup final, so plenty of players will be trying to impress the Italian in hope of getting a start at Wembley.
Our Headline Offer is on Carlos Tevez scoring in a home win at 2.5, but looking at the anytime goalscorers list, the likes of Scott Sinclair (3.00) and Edin Dzeko (1.91) could be worth a punt.
For West Ham, their season objective of survival has been achieved, and we have enhanced the in-form Andy Carroll (13.00 FGS) scoring in an away win to 26.00!
The Hammers could cause City problems and the price of Man City winning and both teams scoring is 3.00.
Newcastle (2.80) entertain Liverpool (2.40, draw 3.40) in the late game on Saturday, and the visitors will want to make the right sort of headlines after the Luis Suarez debacle last week.
Daniel Sturridge (6.50) will likely take the Uruguayan’s place and we’ve based our offer around him scoring in an away victory at 4.50, for the Toon we go 6.00 on Papiss Cisse (8.00) scoring in a United win.
The home team still have lingering relegation worries after only winning one of their last five fixtures so they really need to put three points on the board; they have been improving at home after a poor first half of the campaign and the Reds are now without their star man – Alan Pardew’s men winning and there being under 2.5 goals could be the bet at 6.00.
The best of the other Saturday games sees relegation threatened Wigan (3.40) take on Champions League chasing Tottenham (2.05, draw 3.60).
Spurs looked to be out of the mix after Arsenal’s improved form coupled with their downturn in results, but last weekend’s win over Man City has totally transformed their season.
The Londoners still have a tough run-in, but Gareth Bale’s (5.50) return is huge and of course we now focus our offer around him – we go 4.00 he pounces in a win at the DW Stadium, for the hosts it’s Shaun Maloney (10.00FGS) scoring in an Athletic win at 9.00.
Roberto Martinez’s men are really in the mire, they don’t want to go the same way as Birmingham and be competing in Europe as a Championship club, it is looking grim for them though and I can’t see them getting anything out of this one – Spurs’ defence is fragile though so I’d punt on an away victory but both teams to score at 3.75.
On Sunday we see a real six-pointer at the Madejski, or more likely a Championship clash in waiting between Reading (2.60) and QPR (2.62, draw 3.40).

Real Madrid – What This Soccer Club Stands For:
Many of us just love the game of football, isn’t it? And some are just crazy about their favorite soccer players and football clubs. For majority of soccer fans, the football club Real Madrid is in their blood itself. This writing is for those crazy fans that eat, sleep, think and play Real Madrid.
Real Madrid C.F. is a professional football club of the European country of Spain. This club represents the city of Madrid in Spain. It was founded way back in 1902. This club has never been relegated from the first division of the Spanish league commonly known as La Liga.
The word “Real” in the name of this club, Real Madrid actually stands for ‘Royal’ which was presented to the club by King Alfonso XIII. The royal crown which we get to see in the emblem of the club was also presented by him. After its foundation, Real Madrid made their way to establish themselves as a strong force in European and Spanish football. This came in the year 1950. In the year 1980s, Real Madrid won two UEFA Cups, one Spanish Cup, three European Super Cups, and five La Liga titles that too in a consecutive manner. The home jersey or kit of Real Madrid football club is white in color.
The stadium which represents Real Madrid
Is Santiago Bernabeu stadium located in Madrid downtown. It has a huge capacity of 80,354 seats. It is the richest football club in the world in terms of revenue; however in terms of value its current position in terms of riches is second with 1,451 million dollars of value, the first being occupied by the English football club Manchester United. Another well known English club named Arsenal follows Real Madrid in the standings.
This club has some famous rivalries with other Spanish clubs the main being FC Barcelona. The matches played between these two clubs are generally referred to as ‘el Classico’. This rivalry between Real Madrid C.F. and FC Barcelona is referred to as the greatest rivalry in world club football. Football fans of this club are real passionate about their football and that can be seen from the recent success of Spain in Football World Cup 2010. Several great football players played for this famous Spanish soccer club which includes great names like Paco Gento, Ferenc Puskas, Butragueno, Hugo Sanchez, Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Raul Gonzalez, Ronaldo, David Beckham, Roberto Carlos, Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben and many. This Spanish club has made his mark in club football history and no matter what happens this mark is there to remain as a record of nine European Champions Leagues, 31 La Liga titles, 18 Spanish Cups, eight Spanish Super Cups, 2 UEFA Cups, one UEFA Super Cup and three Intercontinental Cups is hard to be forgotten.
The name is indeed Real Madrid.
UK Premier League an intense ball game
Football (soccer) is an intense ball game which is famous all over the world. Fan following for this wonderful sport is innumerable too. By the word football or soccer, as many refer to, it means only and only English Premier League or the UK Premier League.
As you can make out by the name itself, UK premier league is a major league of football played in the United Kingdom over a period of ten months. In this league of football, twenty football clubs of England participate. Now a question can arise in your mind about how these twenty teams are selected? The premier league works on a system of relegation and promotion.
The bottom three football clubs of the league table are demoted to the second division of the league after the end of the season. Similarly, to fill in these three vacant positions, the top two clubs of the second division are league are promoted to the first division of the premier league and the third team is decided with the help of play-offs involving from third to sixth position.
Each team in this league plays the other teams twice in the whole season thus each club playing 38 games. One match is played in the team’s home ground while the other is played in the opposition’s home ground. This procedure is followed in many other football leagues all over the world. The winning club is awarded with three points while both clubs receive one point each if the match is drawn. The losing club sadly, doesn’t get any points.
The club with the highest points after the season is declared the league champions. If there is a tie on total points then goal difference of the clubs is evaluated and then the goals scored. If these too could not decide on the winner then the league champion is declared jointly involving the specific clubs. The top three teams of the premier league also gets to play in the European Championship which is fought out between different European football clubs.
The team placed fourth in the premier league gets a chance to play in the European Champions League if it wins a two legged play off with another European football club of some other football league of Europe. The top three gets the chance to directly enter the group rounds of the Champions League.
The club with the most number of premier league wins is Manchester United with a record 19 wins followed by their arch rival Liverpool who have won it for 18 times. The current premier league champion is Manchester United who won the 2010-11 season.
Manchester United Seal the Title
It was not a vintage display from Manchester United against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday the 12th of May 2011, but the match at Ewood Park is one that many Red Devils fans will remember for a long time. A 1-1 draw was enough for Manchester United to claim the title with a game to spare as they went 7 points clear of their main rivals Chelsea. The season has been one of ups and downs for many teams but Manchester United have the habit of picking up wins late in the season, when it really counts. Once again they have timed the final push for the Premier League trophy to perfection, in claiming their 19th English title, passing Liverpool, who have been stuck on 18 for over 20 years.
It has been another fantastic season for Manchester United both in the Premier League and in Europe, where they have reached the Champions League final at Wembley. The manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has every reason to be proud of his players, especially veterans Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, who, at 37 and 36 years of age respectively, continue to excel at the highest level. Another positive for Manchester United fans has been the success of newcomer Javier Hernandez, for whom Ferguson paid just £6 million. He has been a revelation this season, scoring 13 premier league goals so far in his short Manchester United career. There is no doubting that the depth of the squad has been a key factor in regaining the title from Chelsea, with quality players such as Dimitar Berbatov and Chris Smalling available to the manager when injuries and poor form take their inevitable toll.
The red side of Manchester must not, however, get carried away with the team’s triumph. Much of United’s success this season has been attributed to the poor form of rivals Chelsea and Arsenal, who have both had disappointing seasons. Barcelona will provide Manchester United with a much sterner test, with many proclaiming the Spanish champions to be the best in the world at the moment.
One can be certain that the entire Manchester United squad will be as prepared as it is possible to be for the upcoming final. Ferguson will make sure that every player knows exactly what their job is in trying to overcome the toughest opponents of the year. Barcelona will definitely be the favorites for a match that the whole world will be watching, but with Ferguson at the helm, Manchester United are always capable of springing a major surprise on the world stage.
The History of Basketball
Ever since its inception in December 1891, Basketball has been a sport enjoyed by millions of professional players, amateurs and sports fans alike. Unlike many other popular sports, Basketball owes its entire existence to just one man.
It was during the Winter of 1891 that a Massachusetts professor and YMCA instructor by the name of James Naismith, who needed of a way of keeping him gym class fit when it was too cold or wet to play outside, wrote down a set of basic rules for a new game that he called basketball. The first official match took place of the 20th of January 1892, ending 1 basket to 0.
With only an empty gym at his disposal, in order to make the sport he called “basket ball” (the two words were merged later) to work, Naismith had to be creative. He elected to use empty peach baskets, placed at a height of 10 feet, and soccer balls as his equipment. In the early days of basketball, the peach baskets were not open at the bottom, meaning players were forced to fish the ball out of the containers every time someone scored. Eventually it was decided that a hole would be cut into the rigid structure of the basket so that the ball could pass through and play could resume faster. Other early improvements to the sport include the introduction of the back board (created to prevent balcony spectators interfering with play), the decision to double the size of the original courts and the changing of the scoring system to incorporate 2 and 3 point shots.
Today, basketball is successful beyond Dr. Naismith’s wildest dreams. Professional players in the NBA are watched by millions of fans from around the world. Japan and China are also beginning to embrace the sport, which is played at Olympic level by countries from all five continents. Basketball is the world’s ninth most popular sport, ahead of all of the other “Big 4” American sports including football, baseball and ice hockey. Last year the total attendance for the National Basketball Association NBA matches was over 20 million people, higher even than that of the NFL!
It is unlikely that anyone is ever again going to make as big an impact on the sporting world as Dr Naismith did with the invention of basketball. If he were here today, I’m sure he would be very proud of his achievements and pleased that he was able to bring so much joy to so many people, when all he had ever wanted from his sport was to keep a few men fit over the cold New England winter. Basketball really does have a great story behind its creation!
